| Name: | Aladdin |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 02-16 |
| Location: | United States |
Series: Aladdin
Version: End of TV series, pre-King of Thieves
Age: 18-19 (He's 18 in the first movie, so I imagine he's getting closer to 19 at this point)
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance: Young and dashing and--well, at least he would like to believe himself as such. Aladdin is of an average height for his time and age, with a fit, athletic build that's developed from spending most of his life running from guards and store owners alike. Whether it be his fault or an honest misunderstanding, it keeps him in tip-top shape for adventures or dodging accusations, depending on the day of the week. His hair has been described as "poofy" by some of his adversaries; black and thick. True to his heritage, he has a tanned tone to his skin, thick eyebrows, and somewhat large, brown eyes.
Living on the streets, he rarely has time for fashion, or to really care much about it. (That's Jasmine's department). He typically wears a pair of large, white, MC Hammer-esque pants that somehow never get stained. On the right side, there is a tear that has been haphazardly fixed with a large, yellow patch. A brown sash is worn around his waist to keep those pants up in the right position. Whether he can afford one or not, Aladdin is rarely ever seen with a shirt, and instead prefers to wear a purple vest on its own. A red fez tops off the ensemble, and you have one escape-ready street rat. When he's playing a good diplomat or getting dressed up for/because of Jasmine, he's often seen wearing a white outfit, complete with boots, a cape, a turban, and a shirt!
Personality: First and foremost, Aladdin is a good kid. But he is just that; a kid. While getting closer and closer to twenty, he still carries bits of that teenage awkwardness in his heroic attempts to help others as well as to impress his current fiancee. Making a good impression on people is very important to him, and despite how he may act sometimes, others opinions of him can drive him to do strange or dangerous things. His hero complex may be a part of that; wanting to always do the right thing, but also basking in the praise and glory that can come along with it. Yet, at the end of the day, Aladdin really would prefer to do what he knows would benefit others over himself, even if he occasionally succumbs to his own selfish tendencies. (read more...)
Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: Being the resident 'Hero' of Agrabah, he's got to have a few tricks up his sleeve. Weapon-wise, he's been known to use what is around him, be it a table lamp, a chair, or maybe even a fish if the situation calls for it (or if Genie accidentally gives him one instead of a sword). He's been known to wield staves as well as swords, the latter being his weapon of choice in a sticky situation. He's quick on his feet and can perform a number of athletic feats and does not often have a hard time getting around, even in high places. But what lends him the most success is his ability to improvise and think on his feet. It definitely helps to have a Genie with semi-phenomenal, nearly-cosmic powers, a magic carpet to get around on, a monkey who is the best pick-pocket in town, and a parrot who...well, the first three really help him out in a tight spot. Aladdin knows he could not have gotten far without them. Having a stubborn, but equally clever and agile girlfriend doesn't hurt either.
Weaknesses: He tends to rely on Genie and Genie's magic pretty heavily. Though he can get through a lot of situations on his own, more often that not, if he did not have any of his friends with him he would have ended up being less that marriageable to Jasmine (or alive, for that matter). His tendency to lie when he should not and his need to please others get him in more trouble than it may be worth. Aladdin's need for thrill, adventure, and occasionally the possibility of treasure often puts his friend's at risk, unintentional as it is. He also has a habit of having to put his foot in his mouth. While he can be a fast-thinker when he needs to, he somehow has to flip back and forth with being smooth and making an idiot out of himself.
History: Aladdin was born and raised in Agrabah, but mainly on his own. His father deserted the family when he was young without reason (he knows of at this point), leaving Aladdin and his mother to make ends meet on their own. Not long after, his mother died, and from then on he taught himself how to get by. Unfortunately, his situation was not unique, and Aladdin just became another one of the kids stealing breakfast in the morning and finding an alcove to sleep in at night. It was not the most prestigious life, but it never seemed to dampen his spirits. If anything, Aladdin became more and more determined to accomplish his own goals. (read more...)
